The Cost

Am I
born to doubt,
In the midst
of laughter,
celebration,
the positive...
a tendril taps my mind,
what is real?
A crack appears
snaking into my thoughts...

Look what they did
to me,
Look what they did
to my family,
Look what they did...
my heart, my feelings,
Look at my thoughts,
Look, spinning...
people... pain.

And yet,
Should I gain
all things,
have all knowledge,
all success
what do I have?
Ashes, glitter,
a hourglass
sand dripping time
to my death.

Is there really a choice?

And then
I take a risk,
They call it
a step of faith,
opening to
the love of God,
allowing Jesus
to be Lord,
capturing my heart,
And I know, experience Him
as my lover,
and I choose God,
King of glory over my life,
under God's authority,
Making Him Lord.

Does this cost my life?
Yes!
I give all
day by day,
In the valley
are the shadows
that I will walk,
Oh... I remember
the mountain tops
dancing with God
in incredible release, freedom,
the spirit colours
streaming, painting wonder.
But in reality valley
choosing you
my Saviour - Lord of my life,
is the full victory
of Christ.
My freedom
My love
My worship.

I am released,
God where do You
want me to step today?
Dance today?

Cost of Following Christ Poem

Each White Song

Each white song
Unique crystalline beauty,
Cleansed in the Sun,
Formed extreme cold
Symmetric created crystals,
Now
Gracefully tumbling,
At times blown
on winds of fancy,
Yet drawn by gravity
By the power
towards earth.

Together
they meet
jostle and settle
mingle and mix,
Each one fragile
but together,
power to stop cars, trucks,
avalanches and glaciers
inexorable change
to the world.
Together
celebrations of life
Snowboard excitement cuts
Snowball thrown
family fun.

The potential of one
Being one.
Unique snowflakes Christian Poetry

Flourish

In the heat
burned a mistake,
toxic
yet strangely cold,
Wounded
Cut,
Despairing,
Agonised,
Retreating from the real,
Unconnected,
life suicidal,
alone.

Could there be more?
What do you really want?

I am the Lord,
I demonstrated
an incredible
poured out love,
Christ, my Son
who died
for you,
For your past, present, future;

Oh, how I love you.

And you will be
...will be...
transplanted, born anew
Deeply cherished
Highly favoured
You will be rooted;
immersed into God,
established in
wider, higher, deeper
extravagant, endless love,
fresh life saturated
In Living water,
A revelation
of the infinite power
streaming to your spirit,
cascades of
Holy Spirit,
flooding immersive
your soul.
Rooted in Jesus as Lord.

Never doubt...
Open
to Him,
Make
Him Lord and King,
Place
Him first.

Be close
in Him, Blossom,
Be ready
to change,
Be loved
deeply, completely
Be overflowing
with love,
Be close, so close
to the Lover,
Be aware
in the pain,
Be powerful
in your innermost depths,
Be burning
fire spirit of God,
Be energised
joyful action,
Be strong
in the truth,
Be curious
seek the questions,
Be loyal
living harmony in community,
Be soaked
in the Word of God,
Be Communion
intimate with bread and wine,
Be impassioned
in prayer,
Be flowing
passion in the living river,
Be drawn
open to supernatural
Be aware
open to God's amazing,

Be quiet
sleep in the corner...

And you will...
Be filled
Spirit restored,
Be taken
deeper into mysteries,
Be flourishing
a Fruit festival,
Be transformed
by where you will go...
Flourish by the river Christian Poem

Hope Discovered

In darkness
the anticipation of light,
times dreaming in
awakening soul,
Inside pain
a hug, longer, deeper
without false words,
taking the risk
of future pain,
Beginning life
cry of new born,
turns of suffering
giving way
to unfolding pages of beauty,
A choice
for possibilities
controlling fears
self whispering
“Try again.”
Knowing now's feeling
will not
be tomorrow's spirit ,
the Spring
after the Winter,
that in falling’s jeopardy
wings will work,

Hope...
The string
centimetre by centimetre
unwinding
a kite's flight.

Your Cost

Take your life
expense
excellence, cost, love
fear, success
Break it;
Kneel
and pour the oil,
Anoint the feet
of Jesus,
Tender, intimate,
without a care
for those around,
devoted in passion
massage deep,
devoted
stay in that place
remain close,
wipe the dust,
soften His calluses,
in veins see his blood beat;
your heart worships
deep calls to deep,
fearless cost
Connected in communion,
Can you be closer?
Yes! taking your long hair
You twist the strands slightly
and wipe Christ's feet...
worship moment,
timeless drift.

How can these seconds
Be as powerful
as a hug,
as exciting
as first love,
as secure
as holding hands,
as wrapped in a
Heartbeat?

Finished
but not wanting to be,
you stand;
He smiles,
Eyes sparked in love,
And you enjoy... fully alive.

Luke 7: 36-50

Born Twice

A making unmaking,
when attached
becomes released
separated, tiny
lungs shudder first breath,
this baby combined
DNA molecules of two,
Experiences pain
instinctively cries.

Time grows, passes,
food consumed
Molecules imported,
Until
at some mysterious point,
All molecule
origins of mother father
have been shed, replaced.
Am I more me at this point?
Alone from family
Yet closer in my division?
Be born again
said Jesus,
changed from the inside out,
explosion from stillness,
hugged and released
Finite space filled
with the will of infinity,
infused Makers DNA.
not just a process
but a human soul journey,
inner transformation.

Closer to God
and paradoxically...
self.

Be born again,
Do not return
to old ways,
Be born again.
Born Again Christian Poem

The Painter

The artist
dot by dot
paintbrush breathes life,
imagination captured
Story told
unfolding in viewers mind.

This place
This church,
dot by dot
creating over time
3D art mirroring life,
Story told
over time
in relationships,
Love connections.

Patina of years
Layers deepen
each dot, each brushstroke,
mirroring reflections, glimpses of the image
of God.
We are God's
picture,
individual hues
Blending, composing.

So jump
into the paint, the painting
Enjoy being His creation,
sing His colours,
connected to create
connected to bless
connected to portray
experiences of God's love.
The Painter Christian Poem

Face

What is the face you see?
Dark stern,
Features of nothing
cast in blunt stone,
A God not of earth
just imagined beyond.

What do I see?
Sometimes that grey,
Sometimes those silent echoes;
But also in clarity
His vulnerable baby eyes
God in skin
innocence, peace surrounded by death,
Sweat stained carpenter dust brow,
empathy tightened mouth
as in anger
he sees, heals the damaged,
The smile as long hair
washes in oil, his dust stained feet,
His pain bloodied, thorn pierced
wrapped brow,
His tight drawn skin
as cross strangulation deepened,
blank distant cold eyes
in the stone tomb...
An executed mask.

The Satan death cloak
is fractured,
the grim-reaper masks
we wear shattered,
Light pours through,
the dark pieces consumed
in raw power,
the son's radiance,
worlds of love rotate
passion in His eyes,
setting us free.

Jesus Christ
powerful,
the peace child.
Peace Child Christian Poetry

For Today

In the desperate
need,
In the freedom,
In the pain,
In the celebration,
or drudge of another day,
In the business of hours
stripping life's years,
Who can live?
Who can see?
Where is the point?
Hourglass grains of reflection
slip past,
constant reminders,
dreams, hopes

drowning down

And yet
There is none like me;
Unique,
dna masterpiece
born to be loved,
to be heart seen,
to be soul hugged,
to be me.

Can I live with the
present
I’ve been given?

Starting Thoughts: Are we just random unique or deliberately unique creatures? Does it take as much faith to believe in a world of random, as to believe in a world sustained by the power of God?

How we see ourselves in time and the busy - hoping, Spoken Word Poem

Forever Surprise

Hopes
And futures
were stifled
seared in blood,
Seamed in death,
A tomb for God,
Darkness deceived
Decreed it had won,
And the watchers,
Hurt believers
Wondered-
What had happened?
Hardness descended,
Rescinded dreams.
Jesus, blood given,
body broken, life taken.

Then... Jesus... Rose!
Lord of all.

The covenant
Promise,
Precious Son given.
Jesus paid
Purity only God can give.
A promise
A forever oneness.

He honours
He loves
He blesses
He calls
Gives freedom,
Oh yes!
celebrate the coming
Celebrate the rising
Oh yes!
Celebrate holy
communion,
God with us
Oh yes!
God in us.
Oh yes!
We belong.
Oh yes!
In His name,
The name of Jesus.

Starting Thoughts: Celebrating through the worship of communion, a wonderful saviour the resurrected Lord who died and rose defeating death.

Worship through communion the power and love of Jesus Poetry Spoken Word

Bad Things Happen

Accidents
Struggles
Money pain,
Death
Suicide
Desperate,
Rumours
Barbed words
Poison drips
via screens,
your reality show,
Loneliness
in a connected world,
Loneliness
in a party room,
Loneliness
amongst candyfloss friends,
Can there
be any answer...
in the drugs, alcohol,
in busyness, work,
in hating,
in trying to be good,
all pointless...

And Christ,
God among us
Knows pain's depths,
Rejected, hurt, betrayed,
beaten, killed,
Felt hell's pains sunk
deep in His soul,
His gift
accepting our torture,
And so...
Knows fully your pain.

Come to Him,
give Him
the bad stuff,
The worst, meanest, painful, despair,
the dark.

Forever
he is the Water of Life
Hope singer,
New life bringer,
Your smile and laughter..

Prompt
How deep do we feel trapped in the tar around us? Is there any meaning?

Bad things happen christian spoken word poetry

Light Spark

Incredible moment,
beginning of life
phenomenon
as sperm meets egg
A flash of light...
Just a zinc reaction?

Another clue, like:
A million stars flung,
Sun caressed cheek,
Seed seeking, launching from darkness,
Flower petals unfolding,
following sun-rays,
Sunbeams fracturing into rainbows,
Sunrises softly wiping night,
Moonlight, pale mirror of greater source,
Reflections of light-rays enabling sight,
colours a thousand retina explosions.

All random?

In light
the invisible becomes visible,
star lead wanderers
discover the new born King,
sons, daughters of light...
you will not walk in darkness.

His spark
our faith,
Beacon of hope,
Creator, Sustainer, Light of the World.
Light Christian Poem

Fear

What do you fear?
Arachnophobia - those crawly spiders
Acrophobia - way up, fear of heights
Cynophobia - fear of dogs
Too close- the fear of confined spaces - Claustrophobia
Pediophobia - what are these small people? the phobia of dolls
Red nose, Coulrophobia the fear of clowns
Common to childhood, Nyctophobia - fear of the darkness
Mysophobia - the fear of germs

Autophobia - the fear of myself
Theophobia - the fear of God
When persistent, ongoing, irrational - a phobia
When it is healthy, balanced
centered in the love of God
it is LIFE indeed!

Fear of God
Reverence,
Hope in His love
the beginning of knowledge.
Fear God Poem (Christian Media)

Slaves Exist

Trapped,
a consignment to consumerism,
No pity,
No rights,
Death by degrees,
slaves,
poor because
mandates and manacles
rights and reasons
are all in the hands
off a powerful few.
Insidiously hidden
third world or first world
thousands live
daily death;
Sex trade, sold souls,
cheap and cheapened labour,
poverty raping
minds and lives from
the future,
How can we watch -
only numbed by statistics
defrauded, desensitised by media,
Someone else,
Someone else,
Someone else will.

And you saw me
Hungry, in poverty
Trapped
and you walked on by
Head down
another message on your cell,
another appointment,
What will others think of your heroin?
Excuses of
not having enough,
worried for your own future.

You saw me,
And never saw me.
Slaves, Slavery Poem. Make a change.

I Stand

I stand
in a crowd
they blur
in fast forward motion
around me,
my heart slow mo,
Surrounded by life but empty,
Even sound
is muted
dialled down,
time threatens me
a tomorrow enemy
coming insanely quicker
invading here now,
Colours fragment-
are hard to track,
buildings gravity lean
compressing my space,
I crazily condense
shrinking from
false business
flashing toothless signs
muttered sorry
from bumper car drones
hurrying on programmed tracks,
Hopelessness grips, fear tendrils
into my darkening mind.
No hope
No way
No where to go

Pieces
of me splinter
in my soul.
I Stand Alone Crowd poem

All in All

All in all
Universe eternal
Timeless unchangeable,
Beyond comprehension,
Above all,
Sustainer of space
in vast galaxies;
in neutrons, protons
the threading fabric
of our existence.

How beautiful, wonderful, perfect...

Soul gasping clarity
kaleidoscopes my mind
smiling into my heart.
Our God
personal human presence,
Jesus the walker, hugger,
inspiring, leading, calling, laughing,
challenging, holding, caring,
Pure singer of good news,
inspiration for real life.

I see dark chaos,
pain, hopes;
But Jesus transforms
Our choices,
Our world,
Our lives.

Your Saviour
Your King
Celebrate
All in.

Prompt
Poetry: God's hand that holds and sustains the universe, when we see it - wow!
All in All Christian Worship Poem

Again and Again

I remember,
as many will
the moment
gut of heart
first time
God calling
Bursting pounding
heart moment decision
in moments of hesitation
Facing being unclean
a sinner
Allowing grace
Resurrection Love supreme
to infuse my life.

Dying to self
yet now…
few selfs worthy of a grave.

Return
to your first love.

At the Cross

"The hard cross reveals an immense love. We can know who we truly are at the cross."

At the cross
Hard wood, hard nailed,
hard faces
Soft flesh.
Sin's focus
Sin's power
Sin's lies.

Flawlessness embraces flaws
Perfect enveloping terrible
Hope infusing fear,
Love enfolds the cold,
Streams of mercy
heaven's cascade,
Washing clean.
It's who Jesus is.

Some sins escape me,
The things I don't do
when I could
I slip,
Good is not enough
in God's perfect.

At the cross
Love revealed,
Immense, wide
Not a half-filled cup
but ocean depths,
Freedom claimed,
Healing imparted,
Forgiveness flows.

Jesus takes all sin.
I am
Loved,
Released...
Oh, the infinite closeness,
It's who I am,
It's who I know.

I Am

If I met
Combined, connected into one:
Power
Love
Justice
Sacrifice
Significance
Freedom
Eternity
Brother, sister, friend, father, mother
Extremes
Life
Spirit
King
Cost
Change.

Would my mind cope?

If I had
All time
All words
They would not be enough
Just ebbing thoughts,
Inadequate shadows,
To describe the Great,
"I am"

Time Reloads

Head in hands,
Hands, hair, skin, skull
Holding in the pain,
Replaying images.

Time reverses
Seconds leach from the future,
Spiralling past events
Decisions, consequences,
Small flights of thought
Covering vast spaces
Of choice,
Ticking seconds, minutes, years
Unfolding past from present,
Unrolling truth and lies...
Unaware alternatives
Mixed with desired selections.

The paths
Wide and narrow,
Dark and light,
Forks in our story.

It's your choice,
Choice
