What was the point?
Cute lambs and shepherds
twinkling stars,
Presents and smiles,
straw and happy baby,
Smiling parents.
Underneath...
A king desperate for power
Fear of a baby
death of innocents
Fleeing parents,
A Christmas beginning.

Today,
Families gathering
presents exchanged
Hugs and togetherness
Celebration,
Underneath...
Crowded rushed malls
Sweating Santa,
Myriad sales
Glitter commercials,
Stress and loneliness
Clarity of pain and anger,
Countries war-torn
Worn and lost.

Underneath...
Anchored in and beyond time
God's love...
Sent in risk
Sent to bring back,
Sent to speak,
To live full; laugh, struggle,
To go carrying the cross
Carrying our pain, sin, death
For the joy
set before him,
Darkness and sameness
Triumph of evil.

Underneath... The Point

Resurrection power
Death and sin defeated,
Love conquered
Final victory,
Reborn again
Lives eternally changed.

Christmas complete.

Every moment
Every step,
Closer than your heart beat
a You shadow
twinned to your soul,
A knowledge deeper
than you know yourself,
From the same creator spirit
that formed galaxies and atoms,
A love celebration
that laughed, danced,
sang the song spinning
stars, universes into space,
From that tender power,
a God spark,
puzzle piece,
A fire
waiting alive in you.
In every spirit molecule of your whole
a call to your soul, Spirit deep,
to close relationship,
A call to home -
to pain,
to questions
to freedom
to change
to purpose
to adventure...

In Christ's ever love
You will never

into the neighbourhood
Sent to relate,
A mission
In fragmented, scattered lives
In the uncaring, indifferent.

Opening
New beginnings,
Restoration of lives
to God
to others,
Doing from being
centered in Christ,
Followers deepened in faith.

Sharing love, hope, questions,
laughter, pain, dreams.

There is so much more,
Reach for it.

Memories’ eye
opens kaleidoscope colours
labelled friend, gorgeous woman.

A colour burst
surrounded by intertwined roses
radiating grace, closeness
my love
my Rose.

Yellow diamonds spiral
iris widening past moments of
humour, the so positive lady
with hard edges
of amazing toughness, perseverance.

Blue circles
the eyes pool depth
I journey with,
Enjoy looking into,
enjoy skipping stones
of reaction over.

Eyes now framed, bigger,
in rimmed glasses
for our mutual reading,
iPad screens,
comfortable couch silence
together independence.
I watch you
laugh, scroll, like and comment
and just enjoy the social you.

Rose,
Colour mixes of
passion, faith, directness and quick smiles

Desires for love,
Of purpose.

Where are the solutions?
in a world of answers
saturation media
social connections
Somehow fragility exists.

More questions grow.

Why the desire:
to search?
to speak?
to hold?
to cause pain?
to withdraw?

Why the driven:
looking beyond,
seeking different,
the now,
the present,
the past.

Somewhere simple
we are drawn to
another rhythm.

Human nature
Scars and beauty,
Seeping decay
Shadows across Earth's face
Living to rescue one moment
Suicide bomb hate the next.

Life suffers:
In death, luxury, instant world,
focus on the me,
Fear, Pain
I am right!

But there was a suffering
A history eternity moment
Connecting
Earth to life,
Us to pure love
Us to the judge,
to hope
to freedom.
Us to God.
A faith to live for,
Beyond the Earth
Beyond an expanding universe
Beyond everyday, today and tomorrow.

At the core,
We know
sustaining our perfect
me skin
is impossible.

Building moments
Painting the flesh,
Self saturated, we try.
Hostile to outside
life and freedom,
We paint ourselves
into corners,
Pain traps.
Shattered meaning.

In being only self,
We lose self.

"But I am good,"
we cry from the corner,
Just echoes
of darkness
call back
"What is good
good, good, anyway?"
Ashes to ashes,
Dust.
In a lost world
Could there be more?

It seems there...
in a child's hug,
care of a friend,
in stars, mountain tops,
a bud drawing life
in Spring's new kiss.

Threads of a reality.

In a lost world
Could there be more?

Someone who knows me
sees me,
sees through me,
and yet loves me
holds me,
is prepared to die for me,

God sparks.

Walking up the Road
Leaving behind,
Threading out the darkness,
Ghost chains,
Footsteps away

a life of drowning in
unintended consequences,
Shit stuff,
Not so unintended consequences.

Obeying a call,
To change
Embrace the light,
To accept a Saviour,
Calm, hope and fear
centered in me now
as I journey
finding the Way.

A Father's heartbeat
Rhythm of the road,
Love's call,
Forgiveness' flow
Freedom's laughter
His welcome hug.

Choosing again

Snow white we were,

Beginning déjà vu
the poisoned Apple,
One small moment

wait and groan.

Another door opens

Hope

It started...
just a tickle of noise
transferred through tin roof,
then thundered louder
as white marbles hit,
bouncing also on tarmac.

Boys faces lit with excitement,
bodies quivered
and reading Animal Farm was lost.

Faces scrunched against windows,
Asked for
Release,
Set free
they ran into the pain
shirt soaked
wanting to experience
hailstones on heads
Crazy moments at school.

I left what I knew
Embraced unknown reality,

You spoke, "Awake."
I opened darkened eyes
from spiritual lack.

You cried, "Father forgive them,"
I engraved these love words
Mind to heart.

You said before dawn
the cock will crow,
“Three times"
I know now
boasts mean little,
Cheap betrayal,
Yet threaded, intertwined,
three times you asked,
"Do you love me?"
"I do."
Twice; "You know I do."
Third time, soul deeper,
life aware, pride cut,
"Lord, I do."

You announced, "Let there be light"
And I danced
in a new beginning.
