A well
of sadness
pooled your
eyes
tears gathered
mirroring outside
your heart inside
I felt drawn
to just you.

I heard about
your troubles
about how your friends
and the men you knew
said, "Let's get smashed.”
They were just hunters.

Can I take your hand
introduce you
to a friend
who never lets
you down?

God knows your heart
hurt
like I never will
I've seen him
change darkness,
make new creations.

creating pain,
betrayal gaps
between you
and the person
you once knew,
friendship shipwrecked,
Uncomfortable meeting moments,
Eyes avert,
voices whisper,
mind word games
play silently in your head.

A choice...
Bitter write off
Cut the past threads,
Or
Close the gap,
Open the heart,
words of forgiveness
given in courage.

Do you love me?
Feed my lambs.
Do you love me?
Take care of my sheep.
Do you love me?
Feed my sheep.

Do you hear?
Do you hear...
the voice of your Lord?

Remembered instants
heartbeats of significance,
recognition and recall
memories shared,
thoughts painted in our relationship
capturing the moments:
we laughed together,
paused together,
dreamed together,
looked at life together
through time's eye.

These memories
make us
fully human,
alive to the best and worst
of who we are.

Even as we remember
do the memories change?
Elusive wisps of clouds
morphing into different colours
and shapes,
changing our thoughts
feelings of treasured minutes
or painful pasts.

Small
Unseen
The universe of space
Between molecules
objects, life that seems solid
both living and soulless-
Same,
Electrons spinning
Yet when combined
could be walking, running spirits
or standing-tall tree alive
or floating cloud, snow laced mountain,
Myriad combinations
miracles of reality,
But an existence infested
with pain, poison,
Coexisting alongside passion, love;
Questions sometimes appear
in the hungry void,
between quark and laughter,
What are we?
How do we exist? Why?

Makes you wonder…
or not.

Crazy
Beautiful day,
One moment
Praying for cancer-ridden life,
the next- music
heights of worship,
Another eating food together,
Another arms around shoulders
Embracing God
hiding from God.

Church...
The place
Of the seeker, proud, real, fake
Young, old,
Different races, faces
A slice of our world
Same
And yet indelibly different.

How large is our God?

I live a life
Shades of grey.
Faded tumbleweed
never smoothly rolling
Unsuited,
Constantly throwing
decision dice
that lead to nowhere
corners, dark alley traps.

From the corner
of my eyes
Colour scratches
at my mind
And when I turn
refracted colour explodes
across my vision, world.

I know this colour.

I recoil
Fear of choice,
of a different voice,
of being drawn
to a different life
…too much…
so I let the street winds
city dust devils
roll me
pick me up
stuff me in
a bleached scarecrow,
now hidden
hung in grey rags
in a monochrome world.

Memories eye
develops kaleidoscope colours
See this lady
my best friend
a gorgeous woman,
A colour burst
surrounded by intertwined roses
radiating grace, closeness
my love
my Rose.

Yellow diamonds spiral
iris widening past moments of
humour, the so positive lady
yet with hard edges
amazing toughness, perseverance.

Blue circles
the eyes pool depth
I journey with,
Enjoy looking into,
enjoy skipping stones
of reaction over.
Eyes now framed, bigger,
in reading glasses
for our mutual reading,
iPad screens,
comfortable couch silence
together independence.
I watch you
laugh, scroll, like and comment
and just enjoy the social you.

Rose,
Colour mixes of
passion, faith, directness and quick smiles

Incredible daughter
Beautiful wife.

my time spanning

Bells peal
Summoning the battle lines
Satan rubbed
gleeful hands
as people were
called to church.

The Lord stretched
His spirit
to those who came
Victorious loving power
to those that
bothered to claim

But the people
did not love
they couldn't
in division
slander
respectable sin
and divided
they fell
while God waited at the door

And the devil got up
and danced on the altar.

Life alive
Water's crystal essence
is amazing!
Our planet dot spins
in a vast dry galaxy
Yet
water the same
today
on Earth
as yesterday’s
dinosaurs drank.

As we drink,
Water so vital
to life's fabric
we wonder

Unchangeable

A haunting realness
trapped in me,
mind encapsulated,
A shell curled
buried on the beach,
life hidden
lonely,
crashing waves around
non-person in a crowd
quietness in the rage
gems in the mud.

I could speak,
there's something there,
a hidden seed thought
a truth
a reality,
I open my lips
and say something else...

Lying words on
dreams of
inner truth.

Christmas
Anticipation,
Beginning of hope...
Drowned in the voices,
ad confused noise
Sarcasm screams
and steals,
Killing the thinking
curious
questions lost.

No different today
to the first time,
Cold power feeling threatened,
iron fist desperately speaking
commands of death,
Babies killed,
A fearful human king
trying to kill the true king.

Doubters emerged,
frozen religious thinking
denying the king
His claims on their life,
Liars advertising
Their version of truth 101.

Jesus,
Human frailty embraced
as a baby,
He stands
perfect in time
Alive after death,
He saves
Hopeless and hopeful
Anyone who comes.

Maybe that's why
Jesus said, "Come as a child."
Before those mind manipulations,
before games acted
before playmaking,
Just come as you are,
who you are
No matter where
you are from,
Where you sit.

The birth of hope
Alive after sacrifice
Love extreme
loves you
embraces you
knows you
sees you.

Winter Friendship

Eyes pulled through
partially opaque
gravity defying
droplets on glass,
to wind bent trees
slashed by fingers
of penetrating rain,
Darkness fogs
the window
that resolutely
shuts off the wintery blast,
battle sounds of
rattled metal roof rain.

Inside
time suspends,
lights dimmed to
unwind level,
music tiptoes softly
from the playlist,
heat pump gurgles
drifting new heat
into the chattering,
relaxing gathering,
one pair couch facing,
leaning towards
talking intently
a third drops cautiously near
sitting on the floor
and is accepted
with body angle changes,
men’s group standing
shoulder conversation circle
sharing laughter,
another on the window seat
temporarily withdrawn
mobile text conversation
pulling her between
the unseen and seen
the away and the now,
nibble creators
bustle in bright kitchen
chattering preparations.

Friends gathered,
a mix of memories
coalescing into the moment,
a chameleon atmosphere of
moods, talk, thoughts
intermingle, rise and fall.

I stretch my
satisfied cat soul,
in lazy camaraderie warmth.

Cute lambs and shepherds
twinkling stars,
Presents and smiles,
straw and happy baby,
Smiling parents.
Underneath...
A king desperate for power
Fear of a baby
death of innocents
Fleeing parents,
A Christmas beginning.

Today,
Families gathering
presents exchanged
Hugs and togetherness
Celebration,
Underneath...
Crowded rushed malls
Sweating Santa,
Myriad sales
Glitter commercials,
Stress and loneliness
Clarity of pain and anger,
Countries war-torn
Worn and lost.

Underneath...
Anchored in and beyond time
God's love...
Sent in risk
Sent to bring back,
Sent to speak,
To live full; laugh, struggle,
To go carrying the cross
Carrying our pain, sin, death
For the joy
set before him,
Darkness and sameness
Triumph of evil.

Underneath... The Point

Resurrection power
Death and sin defeated,
Love conquered
Final victory,
Reborn again
Lives eternally changed.

Every step,
Closer than your heart beat

twinned to your soul,

From the same creator spirit
that formed galaxies and atoms,
A love celebration
that laughed, danced,
sang the song spinning
stars, universes into space,
From that tender power,
a God spark,
puzzle piece,
A fire

a call to your soul, Spirit deep,
to close relationship,
A call to home -
