Matrix Moments

Media Moments: Question, reflect, connect

Love

Faulting through us
an invisible crazed line
deep
connecting us all
yet spreading,
birthed in the choice
of amazing good
terrifying evil
and “I'm mostly nice”,
sin has cracked us
separating
our soul's choices
from the love of God.

What a power to choose,
to respond,
and the judgement of
the cards falls
where we have played them.

But before sin,
before the decision
of Satan
to rebel,
before the fall
of an apple into gravity
of pride,
before the games
the celebrity gratification,
the focus on me...

forgiveness and love
were the very nature
unified purity in God,
God’s entity
His passion
His personality.

And in time
on time
outside of time
God knew,
Knew what would be done
Knew what would be given
Knew the sacrifice
Knew the pain
Knew the power required
Knew the victory,
and it happened
Christ from His heart
God felt this moment
Christ broke His heart
God suffered this moment
Christ raised by His heart
God celebrated this moment.

the final signature
God signed his cross
his x
to the searing consequences
of our decisions and defeats
of the full weight of sin,
all this because God
first loved,
This love of Jesus
has triumphed
Release, remission
and we are
engulfed by the Father’s arms,
Enclosed protected
from principalities
from powers of evil.

Living through God
Living through His love
This God
the light of truth
in our lives.

This is how
we walk in love
put on love
love God
love others
love self

Perfectly reconciled
we love our God
through genuine loving
of others.

Prompt
Love- the reckless, forever love of God that flows from His very nature.
Love Christian Poem

Impossible

Counting
way too impossible,
Sand on the beach
Peebles in the universe,
The problems in my day...
my work
the world,
The giants puff nothing
but rule my life,
Desert dry
I stumble,
purpose parched,
Loser lost,
sin scraped?
No deeper!
sin soaked!

"Oh God,"
I cry
for your forgiveness,
I need
Your impossible.
And then I discover
in the cross
in a Jesus relationship
in worship,
in tune with the Saviour;
streams that flow living water,
My spirit connects
to the holy,
And I dwell deep
loved infinitely, completely,
in the smile of God.

Prompt
Impossible- counting the grains of sand on a beach, fathoming the love of God, we can only be in awe.
Impossible Christian Poem

Stones Throw

As Jesus rode
towards the city,
Towards a future
really only known by Him,
the noise...
the celebration crowd
lining the streets
of Jerusalem
palm leaves waving, shouting
The embarrassed Pharisees' hate
threaded the tumult,
But the crowd
was lost to them
in this moment;
for a change,
in this time's fragment,
people had touched
the truth.

"Even the stones
will cry out."

Hide the cross
of Easter,
Smother it in chocolate
and hopping bunnies,
drown out thought,
hide it in holiday events,
Laugh to make it irrelevant.

And in alternate reality
the crowd transformed
"Stone Him
Crucify, crucify
kill Him on that cross"
erected on stone,
Nailed with our sins
Beaten with
the virus
of our human chaos,
bury Him
in our sins,
Bury Him
deeper in stone.

"Even the stones
will cry out."

"Even the stones
will cry out"
Shouting of God's glory
Shouting resurrection power
and the stone rolls aside,
Revealing
Jesus, risen
Jesus, death breaker
The king of love
the beautiful holy lamb.

Now the Rock
of salvation
has restored me to
Total freedom
Total innocence,
Past, present, future
a completed regenerated
beautiful creation,
new born life,
I know God,
my fresh Spirit
flowing living rivers,
transformed forever from
eternity established within,
My soul released
My gifts released.

Christian SPoken Word Poem Easter, Palm Sunday

Where I'm From

Days happy playing lone
Climbing the umbrella weeping elm
spreading over front lawn,
my ship at sea,
clambering the mast
hiding behind leaf sails,
weighing chances of breaking leg
jumping from high to ground,
Our house behind
white roughcast
home perched
on Dunedin hills.

Pine trees march
rough barked
up the long dirt drive
of the neighbour’s
mystery mansion,
hectares of
native forest exploration
tracks over fallen trees
through gullies, streams, cockabillies
and fresh-water pale lobsters,
Dad’s spade in hand
digging ferns
to transplant,
creating my dream
new forest bush
in our front garden,
sneaking sweet apples from
orchard trees gone wild
growing gamely near
the stone block mansion,
an edge of danger-
I heard once
an apple thief got hit
with a shotgun blast-
salt pellets stinging his butt,
I tell the story many times
and I cross the boundary
again for my sweet thrill treat,
On hills behind our fence
plump blackberries hanging
from tangled thorn vines,
toy bucket in hand
pick one, eat one.
lips-fingers stained purple.

Our first family
New car smell
Cortina plastic seats
Our 20 miles Ford
parked next
to chicken coup
in freshly cleaned garage.

Dad’s garden -
me blister digging across
the hill quarter acre section,
carrot soldiers
potato mounded rows,
peas and beans
exposing pod life on
on stakes of string twine,
witches copper hat brewing
sea kelp secret recipe
to fertiliser coax the big ones,
his proud saving money world
my moaning not again world.

Dark cold balcony
facing night swathed
Kaikorai valley,
lights in windows
across the void-
are others watching like me?
wrapped in blanket
snug to cold winter fingers
of starry night,
fireworks cascading across
house lights, dim grey sky,
hours gazing.

Our cellar
Dad’s world
of "one day
it will be useful",
exploring to find a treasure
moving the tired memories
to discover nothing,
but still dreaming-
one day I will be rich.

The same cellar where
the two brothers
dug into clay banks
cutting back into
the hill under the house
hand trowel scraping
yellowy clay into
slatted apple boxes
on long rope pull strings,
following a row
of rotten wood piles,
replacing these with
sturdier concrete supports
wedged under floor joists
as we hollow further into dark.
Dad too well built to fit so
weeks of tunnel boy labour
chid underground engineers,
filling-pulling, filling-pulling.

Grandparents house perched
on a steep North-East Valley street,
if you tripped and rolled
would you ever stop tumbling…
Tonka cars and Mecanno metal
my created worlds on their
rose patterned carpet
‘brmmm’ sounds
as I push loved cars
towards the refuelling station of
Grandma’s kitchen and
freshly baked peanut brownies.

My city of replaced memories
rubber wheeled
electric trolley buses,
roads spiralling out from Octagon
who cares if it means
going straight steep up the hill -
the shape was important
on the map,
cold sea harbours
and trevally fishing
hill walks and two storey
grand wooden houses,
St Kilda salt water pool
pounded by encroaching
sea wave explosions.

Dunedin -
centered on Robert Burns
seagull stained statue,
some Scottish in my heart
the child place in my dreams.

Prompt
A poem exploring where you are from, your history and younger child memories.

The Divine Finger

The Divine finger
marked my spirit,
Only in my dreams
did I see the possibilities,
but now
I hear the call,
Across the city
across the nation
across the earth,
In this place,
A call threaded into my heart,
burning deep
Nothing is impossible,
In Him
We can do anything,
It's not over until it's over.
The race call,
run,
Stretch your faith,
Stretch your heart,
Stretch your legs
and run,
run in
and for the Son,
Glorious free,
Freed to be,
released to see
the race before you.

In challenge midst
Pulled captive to different
goals,
the healing;
he restores my spirit,
in the heat
brothers, sisters run together,
My failures
Messed up
covered in
the together,
Sisters and brothers
Trusting God in one another
friendships touching time.

The past stories,
wind behind,
Slip stranded
streaming in the running,
And we see
His fingers have stamped
the moments
signposts of life
Touches of time,
Threaded to eternity.

But now
forgetting
what is behind,
this one thing
I - we do,
single-minded,
single-hearted,
Saying "Yes"
Focused,
broken,
fallen,
changed,
prophetic
radical.

Amazing
The race,
together,
running to-with-for Jesus,
to the finish,
celebrating full
the life
race.

Prompt
How we run the race with others, how we finish the race is a measure of who we are in Christ.
The Divine Finger Race Poem

The Cost

Am I
born to doubt,
In the midst
of laughter,
celebration,
the positive...
a tendril taps my mind,
what is real?
A crack appears
snaking into my thoughts...

Look what they did
to me,
Look what they did
to my family,
Look what they did...
my heart, my feelings,
Look at my thoughts,
Look, spinning...
people... pain.

And yet,
Should I gain
all things,
have all knowledge,
all success
what do I have?
Ashes, glitter,
a hourglass
sand dripping time
to my death.

Is there really a choice?

And then
I take a risk,
They call it
a step of faith,
opening to
the love of God,
allowing Jesus
to be Lord,
capturing my heart,
And I know, experience Him
as my lover,
and I choose God,
King of glory over my life,
under God's authority,
Making Him Lord.

Does this cost my life?
Yes!
I give all
day by day,
In the valley
are the shadows
that I will walk,
Oh... I remember
the mountain tops
dancing with God
in incredible release, freedom,
the spirit colours
streaming, painting wonder.
But in reality valley
choosing you
my Saviour - Lord of my life,
is the full victory
of Christ.
My freedom
My love
My worship.

I am released,
God where do You
want me to step today?
Dance today?

Cost of Following Christ Poem

Your Cost

Take your life
expense
excellence, cost, love
fear, success
Break it;
Kneel
and pour the oil,
Anoint the feet
of Jesus,
Tender, intimate,
without a care
for those around,
devoted in passion
massage deep,
devoted
stay in that place
remain close,
wipe the dust,
soften His calluses,
in veins see his blood beat;
your heart worships
deep calls to deep,
fearless cost
Connected in communion,
Can you be closer?
Yes! taking your long hair
You twist the strands slightly
and wipe Christ's feet...
worship moment,
timeless drift.

How can these seconds
Be as powerful
as a hug,
as exciting
as first love,
as secure
as holding hands,
as wrapped in a
Heartbeat?

Finished
but not wanting to be,
you stand;
He smiles,
Eyes sparked in love,
And you enjoy... fully alive.

Luke 7: 36-50

The Painter

The artist
dot by dot
paintbrush breathes life,
imagination captured
Story told
unfolding in viewers mind.

This place
This church,
dot by dot
creating over time
3D art mirroring life,
Story told
over time
in relationships,
Love connections.

Patina of years
Layers deepen
each dot, each brushstroke,
mirroring reflections, glimpses of the image
of God.
We are God's
picture,
individual hues
Blending, composing.

So jump
into the paint, the painting
Enjoy being His creation,
sing His colours,
connected to create
connected to bless
connected to portray
experiences of God's love.
The Painter Christian Poem

Face

What is the face you see?
Dark stern,
Features of nothing
cast in blunt stone,
A God not of earth
just imagined beyond.

What do I see?
Sometimes that grey,
Sometimes those silent echoes;
But also in clarity
His vulnerable baby eyes
God in skin
innocence, peace surrounded by death,
Sweat stained carpenter dust brow,
empathy tightened mouth
as in anger
he sees, heals the damaged,
The smile as long hair
washes in oil, his dust stained feet,
His pain bloodied, thorn pierced
wrapped brow,
His tight drawn skin
as cross strangulation deepened,
blank distant cold eyes
in the stone tomb...
An executed mask.

The Satan death cloak
is fractured,
the grim-reaper masks
we wear shattered,
Light pours through,
the dark pieces consumed
in raw power,
the son's radiance,
worlds of love rotate
passion in His eyes,
setting us free.

Jesus Christ
powerful,
the peace child.
Peace Child Christian Poetry

Forever Surprise

Hopes
And futures
were stifled
seared in blood,
Seamed in death,
A tomb for God,
Darkness deceived
Decreed it had won,
And the watchers,
Hurt believers
Wondered-
What had happened?
Hardness descended,
Rescinded dreams.
Jesus, blood given,
body broken, life taken.

Then... Jesus... Rose!
Lord of all.

The covenant
Promise,
Precious Son given.
Jesus paid
Purity only God can give.
A promise
A forever oneness.

He honours
He loves
He blesses
He calls
Gives freedom,
Oh yes!
celebrate the coming
Celebrate the rising
Oh yes!
Celebrate holy
communion,
God with us
Oh yes!
God in us.
Oh yes!
We belong.
Oh yes!
In His name,
The name of Jesus.

Starting Thoughts: Celebrating through the worship of communion, a wonderful saviour the resurrected Lord who died and rose defeating death.

Bad Things Happen

Accidents
Struggles
Money pain,
Death
Suicide
Desperate,
Rumours
Barbed words
Poison drips
via screens,
your reality show,
Loneliness
in a connected world,
Loneliness
in a party room,
Loneliness
amongst candyfloss friends,
Can there
be any answer...
in the drugs, alcohol,
in busyness, work,
in hating,
in trying to be good,
all pointless...

And Christ,
God among us
Knows pain's depths,
Rejected, hurt, betrayed,
beaten, killed,
Felt hell's pains sunk
deep in His soul,
His gift
accepting our torture,
And so...
Knows fully your pain.

Come to Him,
give Him
the bad stuff,
The worst, meanest, painful, despair,
the dark.

Forever
he is the Water of Life
Hope singer,
New life bringer,
Your smile and laughter..

Prompt
How deep do we feel trapped in the tar around us? Is there any meaning?

Light Spark

Incredible moment,
beginning of life
phenomenon
as sperm meets egg
A flash of light...
Just a zinc reaction?

Another clue, like:
A million stars flung,
Sun caressed cheek,
Seed seeking, launching from darkness,
Flower petals unfolding,
following sun-rays,
Sunbeams fracturing into rainbows,
Sunrises softly wiping night,
Moonlight, pale mirror of greater source,
Reflections of light-rays enabling sight,
colours a thousand retina explosions.

All random?

In light
the invisible becomes visible,
star lead wanderers
discover the new born King,
sons, daughters of light...
you will not walk in darkness.

His spark
our faith,
Beacon of hope,
Creator, Sustainer, Light of the World.
Light Christian Poem

All in All

All in all
Universe eternal
Timeless unchangeable,
Beyond comprehension,
Above all,
Sustainer of space
in vast galaxies;
in neutrons, protons
the threading fabric
of our existence.

How beautiful, wonderful, perfect...

Soul gasping clarity
kaleidoscopes my mind
smiling into my heart.
Our God
personal human presence,
Jesus the walker, hugger,
inspiring, leading, calling, laughing,
challenging, holding, caring,
Pure singer of good news,
inspiration for real life.

I see dark chaos,
pain, hopes;
But Jesus transforms
Our choices,
Our world,
Our lives.

Your Saviour
Your King

Become a Robot

Become a robot
follow God,
Rules, regulations
restrictions,
Become a slave
to a tyrant
an invisible nothing who shouts
pain into the world.
But if Jesus
was real,
If history has truth
If bibles, Koran record Him,
If millions of lives through time
believe a real Jesus walked the earth,
He was either the greatest lie
Or the only important fact.

The Jesus I know,
broke the rules
of the religious,
embraced differences,
The Jesus I know
showed love
deep beyond any previous experience,
The Jesus I know
Said "I am the Way, Truth, and Life"
The Jesus I know
died and rose,
to give planet earth choices,
to give you hope now,
The Jesus I know
gifts real life
radical relationship
with a Living God.
The Jesus I know
said, "Come follow me
whoever drinks the water
I give them
will never thirst,
a spring of water
bubbling eternal life.”

God saves You
Knows You

Change @ Christmas

Static,
Time revolved
It seemed same old
A world less personal,
War and pain,
A planet revolution
Needed.

Jesus came
God came,
Provoking change,
Changed the shepherds
Changed Joseph and Mary,
Born to change you
Lived to show you,
Died to love you
Lifting you from
existence in the grave
Offering hope,
in a broken world.

Jesus Sees

Jesus saw
the leaders of the day
for who they were,
Many - so wrong...
like presidential races,
Claiming faith,
White washed tombs
echoes of life,
Choosing to believe
their own lies
own law
own false reality
their own destiny.

And the crowds gather
cheering on the hate
buying the deception
liking the post
sharing the tweet,
waving the balloons
smiling the deceit,
Lost minds
feeding on emotion,
hurt and pain,
Fraud fiction
burying any truth.

Jesus said,
"Hypocrites,
beautiful on the outside
bones of all
the dead inside,
I am the truth."

Awake sleepers and see.

Crumbs

Crumbs
scraps for hungry,
Fight like rats
in my world of pain,
Dance my tube
to my tune
My lies
candyfloss nothing,
There is nothing
for you,
Who could love you?
Pointless,
Who could care?
It is only black.
Random.

And I walked
to a country festival
to hear a strange guy
called Jesus.

We listened
and I got hungry.

Crumbs
Gather them up
How can it be?
Have we seen heaven
singing today,
Started with
Broken bread,
Started with five loaves
One boy's lunch
Packed by one Mum
taken in the hands
of Jesus,
Ripped
once twice and many times
given away
amazing, heart pounding
We share
And share
And share...
Amazing
How can this be?
What has he done?
Who is He that
talks this love?
shows this love?
So vast.

We smile face to face
As we eat
He cares,
We laugh
He must be God!
We laugh

Threads of Time

Threads of time
Seconds of disaster
Eternity of pain

Then God walked
Entered the days, years
Of a planet micro spinning
In universe beyond vast ages

He loved deep
He knows you deep
His immense spirit
Calls you deep

Waiting Seed

I lie in the world
winter paused
Snow fell
cold chill
covered me.

Waiting for the Son
to return.

But those who hope in the Lord     will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;     they will run and not grow weary,     they will walk and not be faint.

Anticipation

Christmas
Anticipation,
Beginning of hope...
Drowned in the voices,
ad confused noise
Sarcasm screams
and steals,
Killing the thinking
curious
questions lost.

No different today
to the first time,
Cold power feeling threatened,
iron fist desperately speaking
commands of death,
Babies killed,
A fearful human king
trying to kill the true king.

Doubters emerged,
frozen religious thinking
denying the king
His claims on their life,
Liars advertising
Their version of truth 101.

Jesus,
Human frailty embraced
as a baby,
He stands
perfect in time
Alive after death,
He saves
Hopeless and hopeful
Anyone who comes.

Maybe that's why
Jesus said, "Come as a child."
Before those mind manipulations,
before games acted
before playmaking,
Just come as you are,
who you are
No matter where
you are from,
Where you sit.

The birth of hope
Alive after sacrifice
Love extreme
loves you
embraces you
knows you
sees you.
