Media Moments: Question, reflect, connect

Sunday Tolls

Bells peal
Summoning the battle lines
Satan rubbed
gleeful hands
as people were
called to church.

The Lord stretched
His spirit
to those who came
Victorious loving power
to those that
bothered to claim

But the people
did not love
they couldn't
in division
slander
respectable sin
and divided
they fell
while God waited at the door

And the devil got up
and danced on the altar.

Connections

The artist
dot by dot
paintbrush breathes life,
imagination captured
Story told
unfolding in viewers mind.

This place
This church,
dot by dot
creating over time
3D art mirroring life,
Story told
over time
in relationships,
Love connections.

Patina of years
Layers deepen
each dot, each brushstroke,
mirroring reflections,
glimpses of the image
of God.

We are God's
picture,
individual hues
Blending, composing.

So jump
into the paint, the painting
Enjoy being His creation,
sing His colours,
connected to create
connected to bless
Connected to portray
experiences of Gods love.

Colour Culture Tapestry

What colour in your room?
We have the understated kiwi dark
That blends with the bush
The reds, yellows and blues
of Romania,
Greens
Gold and purple
from Pakistan
Vibrant colours of Malaysia, Singapore,
Korea, Fiji
From Africa, America, Nepal, German
the brothers, sisters
have travelled
To N.Z.
The ends of the earth.
To share stories and life
Flowing threads of culture together
Scottish, Maori, Japanese, British
All joined, called by one love, one Christ
One hope,
Expressed in many voices.
Once all immigrants
to this land,
Once all immigrants
to God’s kingdom,
Now the stories, the yarns
have been woven together
in His love.
A tapestry of
The Christ of the cross
The Christ risen
The Christ who calls his people.

Prompt
Celebrate the mix of cultures that make up the wonderful tapestry of woven colour in our churches.

Hearing a Call

Time of peaceful meaning
night praying and praising
in joy of knowing God,
A circle of fellow believers
sharing the strength
of a loving father,
In coffee fellowship
I took long black
ate biscuit
and talked with new friends,
Yet somehow
drawn
to curtains of
the warm room,

I stepped behind comfortable
drape colours…
looked out,A world of dusk lights
stained buildings
of people facing past regrets
living a life
looking for full,
my heart broke
with God’s love
for those without
friend of a personal God,
the lonely,
scared of ultimate true love
covered in tarmac
walking crowded
empty streets.

In my lone place
tuned to God
I prayed,
“Use Me Lord.”

Starting Thoughts: Sometimes when you have something marvellous you want to share about it. We can't keep to ourselves the beauty of knowing Christ and joy and fun of knowing family in the church - a home away from home.
