Media Moments: Question, reflect, connect

Detatched

It is like I
am in a darkened room
watching the screen
of what God is doing,
I see the picture, the movements
hear the voices
playing out our world,
but feelings and reality are
Detached, emotions not engaged
I desire more...

Can I not stand on
wind waved
tussock folded mountains
firm in the love
that sustains the universe?
Connected to the wild, freedom
river's life source
alive in the river,
Can I not bend
a knee and bow
kneel on the mountain
stone dirt track
the journey path
Kneel
before a king with the
power to raise the dead
and kiss a child,

Can I not look closer
and see the small delicate star
flowers hidden in the grass
blue and white dots
attention to DNA detail
in a vast landscape,
Can I not wait, stilled
intimate in the silence
prepared to hear His voice,
Can I not stand again
shout outpouring praise
that echoes a thousand valleys
Reverberating across the plains
to the white capped rolling seas,
Can I not awaken the land
with my call to prayer
A call to roots planted
deep in God's heart
A generation
established strong
stepping out
reviving outpouring
the ancient future
promises...

It is Time!

Can I not?
Can I not...
Can I not!
I Can!

Prompt
A prophetic call to come closer to God, to be with Him, intimate, and shouting in worship to Him knowing it is time for revival in us and the world around.

3 Gifts

Signposts from the East
Travellers entwined in history
Bearing gifts
Following stars
Part of destiny
And when they
approached the stable cave
Explained,
we are here from
Another country -
We know someone special
has been born within,
Joseph smiled a welcome
aware again with Mary
That something different,
amazing was going
to keep happening
with this baby Jesus;
Dreams with messages
Angels appearing
Shepherds who raised
passover lambs arriving,
And three wise men - why not?
They entered
awe, reverence, anticipation,
opening gifts;

Gold for the king
establishing God's kingdom
personal and hands on
justice, joy, peace,
frankincense the scent
of the High Priest
freeing the way,
tearing open the curtain
to the Holy of holies,
myrrh the painful gift
a drink, a fragrance
The myrrh drugged drink
offered on the skull
of Golgotha to a sacrificed Jesus,
refused by Christ's patched lips
The same myrrh spiced linen wraps
binding his body in an end of life cave,
Myrrh from a plant of thorns.

Three gifts pointing
The way to Jesus
So you can
kiss the baby
The Great I Am,
know the face of God,
know meaning in
God with us,
The greatest Christmas gift
unwrapping change for the world.

Prompt
3 Gifts pointing from the past to future of a baby that would revolutionise life on Planet Earth.

Broken Chains

Sin in the light
exposed,
why do I try
to keep hidden
these chains
that Jesus seeks to break,
why do I want to
feel the same shame
as it grabs me again
Do I like this pain?
Do I revel in the blame?
Retreat to the same?

The kingdom of dark
Baited with a sense
of choice,
Freedom to be ourselves
Expressing individuality
Lured into sharp hooks
hiding from overlooks
living life by our guidebooks
striving for good people looks
living inside the jokebooks.

Only from outside
a bridge through time and space
Can extreme love
True light
make the sacrifice for sin,
the light that leads
purities death the deed
True love that succeeds
salvation guaranteed
Life purpose decreed.

and love abides
for life's freedom,
The fullness of Christ
released deep inside you.

Hope

Do we
cling to vague human hopes,
puffs of imagination,
dreams that float
on crisp helium balloons
and rupture,
leaving only hearts
that leak and hurt
staining black
the dimming world
with a darkness that voids us.

Where is the heart floating?
Has it burst?
Questions of destiny and fear
drift in dust.

There on the same
edges of reality and death,
edges of earth and heaven,
in that space
we could desire
something different,
we could stand knowing
the stinging hope of eternity
from God,
a hope for the now
and beyond,
a hope that cuts
through collapsing confusions
calling a clearness
into today’s moments,

a hope based
in a vast powerful
intimate transforming love.

Choose now.

Lift your faith
speak to your spirit
the words of life and love
Choose the hope
of Christ
becoming the People of the Messiah,
the deeply desired
the completely known
the radically redeemed.

Christ's hope
Will infuse your steps
you will walk God's path
leaving behind anointed footprints
of everything done with God,
kingdom possibilities made real
kingdom treasures
that will stand and remain forever.

All things turned for good.

So choose
Believe in expectation.
The Jesus hope.

Fire to the Nation

The temple in the heart
of the city shines,
but in the streets around
Slander and lies
stir for battle
lures to destruction,
seeking compromises
in the temple.

The guarding walls of protection
Of who we are
Are revived, strengthened
from past struggles
from shattered edges
and sharpness,
Restoring character strength
to the people.

The call to build anew
Higher, stronger, more beautiful;
The call to plant
and build extensions
from the central heart,
Prayer is where you now kneel
time for Christ first,
then you Rise sharpened
with the word
the history of spoken authority,
your minds revelation
creating faith
power in your sword hand,
now you stand
joined in purpose
a together church
Building within a team of unity,
a holy people
a Jesus team
Completing the work
Of a thousand bricks
Of a thousand stones
Of a thousand stories,
Five sanctuary walls stand
Five houses of worship
The temple in the centre
for all to see.
Powerful, strong,
a revolution of hope and love.

We worship
deep in the new,
born again
deep in glory
We are the alive temples
the rebuilt temples
the Creator's workmanship,
Restored to God
Restored to self
Restored to others.

The golden gates
are now to be opened
the eyes, ears, mouth
of the city,
balanced between
Praise and presence,
responsibility and risk,
watchtower and welcome,
prophetic and practical,
Five fire Portals that spread
Revival from the city
To the land
Fire to the Nation
Restoring the glory cloud
To the land
Of the Long White Cloud.

The Scent

You know the One,
hearing about His life,
Celebrating God stories
living the future
of hope for the world,
only in the face
of fear,
is Bravery found
the step-out risk,
holding true tension
between full release
of identity in Christ
and actions that tell
His story,
You are sent
this week - sent
Going home - sent
opening the door - sent
starting to care - sent
driving to work - sent
busing to school - sent
asking can you pray - sent

The scent fragrance of Christ.

In the Water

We stand as
family bonded together
white sand beach stretching
to emerald wave waters,
We speak of the
faith release
grounded and nurtured
in the generations,
awakened, gathered
mothered and fathered
celebrated and shared,
Passed on
past to present,
We call forth the gold
from the blessing founded,
in the unfolded history
heritage from a thousand waves
that have curled
to this moment,
and today we surf
catching rolling waves,
unforced rhythms of life
Enjoying the freedom,
Celebration, heart soul depths,
sharing each journey,
and now We call
declaring God's power,
The wind of the spirit
to again stir the surface,
to breathe on the waters
grace for new faith
Creating anew and birthing
future waves
blessing the new riders
of generations to come.

Together planted in the land
firm stance on the beach;
In front vast, rolling fathoms
and breadth of God’s love,
underneath our feet,
billions of small crystals
earth deep
the mix of fresh and salt waters,
behind us Southern Alps
standing strong on the land,
snow peaks in long white clouds
raining refreshment,
braided rivers of life to the sea,
Above blue sky dome
suspended invisible water
billions of tonnes of his
lavish love
rain spirit
waiting to fall down,
also now surrounding us.

We stand connected
on the beach,
infused, soaked by the water;
empowered by
the heart of Life.

Where We Go

Grace, forgiveness walks the earth,
dances and sings
a thousand planets of
hope into your spirit,
Chosen to receive hope
Chosen to be hope
Chosen to give hope
Knowing identity
Knowing the power of
Who you are in the living God,
Walking, praising in freedom,
Christ in you is the
Hope of glory.
Jesus spoke, "All I have is yours,
and all you have is mine.
And glory has come to me through them.”

Through us Lord!

We receive
your glory
a gift of gold, precious
And we declare
your glory...
gold
over this place, this city, this land.

A Kingdom heart
Of honour
Honour that flows life
releases life
produces trust
protects freedom
Honour that embraces responsibility.

I smile at the thought
of my honouring actions
Knowing we need your
grace given
as you only can
opening us
Putting aside the petty
Choosing not to gossip,
embracing love for others
valuing others
favouring others,
Fully alive and free
to be honouring people.
sharing, giving honour
freely.

Christchurch Trashed

Christchurch trashed and bruised
Boulders tumbling
The hills poured stone
Stoning
Facades falling
streets and spirits broken,
dust rises
tremours, terrors, confusions
drift to the sky
desperation on hours, days, weeks
that roll like the boulders
and burdens into years,
Can these abused bones
live again?
Stained lives
broken pipes and dreams,
sucking mud and
sand strangles.

But do you see?
the light on the mountains,
Lift up your heads
See
Who is this King?
See the glory
He rolled the stone away
No power, no mountain
no death, no pain,
could hold Him,
No lie, no darkness,
no apathy, no fault
can control Him,
His body bag
and bones
powered to life,
Jesus Christ
the Son rises, Triumph!

Do you hear
the whisper?
The sweet voice
of the Lord,
the life living
on the winds,
turning everything around,
Taste the different,
the new,
Lift your souls
Rise up as eagles
soar in His love,
Speak to your faith,
sing your song,
imagine His eternity
deep to deep,
strongly given
your named white stone
the entrance
to His presence
His banquet,
His purity,
And you stand
Sons and Daughters
of God
Raise your hands,
Exalt your King,
Church of Christ,
Christchurch
In his grace
See Him
Know Him -
Love Him.

In My Soul

In my soul
songs staircase upwards
spiralling through my heart
music moves
leading, lifting
A pathway
to voice my innermost spirit
and I praise,
Worship dimensions
widening renewing minds,
expanding space,
And I wonder, adore, magnify
washed in His grace
knowing extreme love
Knowing amazing new life
knowing the eternal,
the peace of heaven,
And in a breakthrough
of faith
~free flowing~
I extol, extol
Holy, holy is His name,
holiness perfection
a righteousness foundation
surrounds His throne,
and pierced
by a revelation of righteousness
by Christs' rich love,
Glorious splendour dawns
and reigns in who I am,
for Jesus is His name,
Saviour of the Ages
I am God's beauty
My name written
intimate
on His Messiah palm,
I forever live
Here and now
righteousness released.

Am I Big Enough?

Am I big enough
thunders God?
Am I big enough
whispers God?
Am I big enough
loves God?

Come with your burdens
Come from where you are stuck
Come with your sins
Come with what
is held in your dark
no holding back,
Don't hang onto the past
because I hung
the past, present, future.
My love was nailed
came alive with
Jesus my Son,
I finished death
so you can let go,
Let me give joy
for lost years,
Let me give joy
for tears,
Let me give laughter
for stress,
Let me give peace
Let me make
forever holy
your life,
Let me be the beauty
the harmony
in your life,
experience the delights
in my heart.

You are
my new creation
healed and totally
forgiven,
I see you
perfect in my love,
Live with me,
Live from
my promises
my truth
my covernment
my power,
Live from
continual righteousness
cross centered
cross released.

Called to Live

The first call
rang out on
a stony beach,
"I will make you fishers,
catchers, of others”,
And Jesus walked
years of moments,
day and night sharing,
thinking, giving,
living with his hands,
touching crowds and individuals,
from miracles to healing
human mistakes,
growing his friends
developing disciples
Sharing his God
Sharing his life.

The last pass
of his earth journey
climbing the Mount of Olives
Jesus spoke, encouraged
“Go and make disciples”
and He left,
Left the kingdom
on Earth to our
Spirit empowered hands.

What is in your hand?
Carry it
use it,
Step out

Draw one step closer to God
Draw others one step closer
to God's kingdom,
You are it
the purposeful love
Now spirit aware of people
present in your world
praying for your world,
you stand, sit and go places
that no one else does,
and so with intentional relationship,
friendship moments,
Speaking to the gold in others
so they can become precious,
Live life together
conversations, a helping hand
hugs, generous words,
tears and hard times,
an influence.

You are
doing life with the one
you are
an answer
You are love
on feet,
Open your home
open your heart
open your hands.

1 Thessalonians 2:8

Prompt
How do we share our faith, make disciples, do we live from the love that we know?
Discipling, sharing faith.

Beginning

Behind the brick walls
lured to the shadows
living in the greyness
looking in the questions
wondering am I just taking space
searching in the choices.
Before the walls
Before the pain
Before the cheapening of your life
Before your ideas about yourself
Before "I’m a good person"
Before knowing there is more,
love existed
because God is,
The Creator’s love.

And now, this moment,
know You were made
for a reason,
to experience
a voice
a call
deep into your heart
into your life
into the depths of your soul
into your dreams.

A call from Love
beyond human plays
beyond human songs
beyond words and relationships
beyond betrayals and boredom
beyond success and failure.

Not a cold call
a prank call
a spam call
a blocked call
a Facebook invite.

Warm it comes
from a God who created
in love,
gave His life in love,
wants to know you
wants to show you
wants to birth
in you new purpose.

You are worth dying for
because Jesus did,
You are His loving,
You are who He wants,
You are who He
will celebrate,
You are who He
is crazy in love with,
You are who Heaven
will sing about.

For you were made
for relationship with God
anytime, anywhere, anyplace,
today
Christ died and rose for you.

This Love waiting, heart seeking
not because of what you have done
not because of what you haven’t
Before the world knew you
He saw you,
He desires to be closer
than your next breath,
To love freedom
into your life,
Dawning, birthing
a new future purpose.

Walk this new journey
Walk into newness of life
Walk into relationship
Walk into love
beginning with the real,
knowing who you are in Jesus,
living from this
resurrected Jesus love
Walk into who
you are created to be.
Live love!

Prompt
Beginning - if God was crazy in love with you would he do anything to bring you to His heart?
Beginning God

God's Heartbeat

God birthed salvation
Christ child born
Mary's blood flowed,
a king dreaded
the babies
future threat possibilities
and more blood spilled,
wailing in Ramah.

1,386,000,000 heartbeats later
Christ in the Garden
anguish of decision
sweated his blood,
On the cross
pain tracked deep
and blood rivulets
drowned Jesus
in the darkness.

350,000 heartbeats later
God's womb
the power of all creation
birthed new life,
the incredible,
Capillaries, lungs once collapsed,
expanded
blood flowed,
another first breath
that took in a
tomb’s dank air,
eyes adjusted
to light, within and without
Christ rose victorious,
born again,
And Christ
walked
out.

Blood given for the
male and female,
treasured images of God
walking lost from
the creator God,
self-parted,
unsustained
bloodless soul separation
from God’s heart
not knowing fullness,
not experiencing
God's rhythm.

God waits
with an overwhelming
love beyond any mother - father
mind images we have,
to bring us
purpose in equality,
revive us
connect us to
God’s mercy womb
nurturing
surrounding, nourishing
ever faithful,
ever loving.

Can you hear
this pulsing?
Be born again
Can you hear
this tempo?
Be born again,
Called to be God’s
passion with each other,
Twinned - reverberating
heartbeat to heartbeat
blood to blood,
born again
to this power, this love
of the infinity
mother-father heart.

Prompt
Mothers day, poetry about God's mother heart, about being above our gender bias for God loves the Salvation plan!

Sneaky Jesus

Not to the powerful
or political centre of influence
but to a small town
born in a manger…
sneaky Jesus

played as a human
worked as a human
unknown
thirty years,
fully human
sneaky Jesus

at a party
first miracle
quietly changed the water
into the best tasting wine,
just being helpful,
sneaky Jesus

not a look
just a short spoken word
"If you are without sin
cast the first stone”
and the accusers left
the prostitute alone,
sneaky Jesus

gathered the one’s
not wanted
not seen as leaders
not powerful
as His disciples,
sneaky Jesus

said words
told stories
that changed lives
sneaky Jesus

Then Satan
trapped Him
whipped, hung,
Tortured, killed
and danced loudly,
but quietly
after three days of nothing
just walking out to
the grinding
of a displaced stone
cascading thunder
into Satan's world
Jesus rose,
Destroying death
unexpected
supernatural,
sneaky Jesus!

Starter Thoughts: Jesus did not do things with a great big fanfare. His way of approaching life was often on the quiet or from a different angle. Sneaky Jesus!

Power Over

The ballroom glitters
chandelier wealth
sumptuous tapestry
of food on corner tables,
stone hearth
open log fire
flowing warmth,
nonexclusive Earth invitation
to the dinner and dance.

powerless and powerful
crowd doorways,
and already the
powerless forced back entrance
powerful red carpet lane,
powerless trying to look
powerful pretending not to look,
powerless lining the wall

powerful dancing the macabre,
liquorice limbs
and sequin suits,
sharp shoes
and slicing shirts,
flaunted fashions
and fierce fortunes,

the music turns
sucking the theatre atmosphere
into terrifying descent
opening sewers,
plunging dark depths:
Of nonsense land,
Of heart timed
broken music
stabs and scabs
in back, mouth, eyes
Of lies and lip service
twisting truth and
weasel words
propoganda smiles
and razor rhythms
Of sweaty handshakes and
feasted friendships,
narrowed eyes
and measuring minds,

the dancing wealth
falters and strobe flickers,
vitality gripped and grasped
from the room.
for the powerful
weigh heavy,
sucking life-light
dancing drunken
leering at the
powerless wallflowers
fastened to the walls,
entertainment to be
painted over with
whitewash
covering the pain,
the death.

tiredness creeps over
the silent soul screams
of the powerless.

in a blackhole of time
a girl, sunken refugee cheeks,
lips parched, peeled
teeth not pearly white,
whispers from the wall
echoes that reverberate
cutting the crap
penetrating the perfect,
"what's happening
to their clothes?"
and in increasing opacity
costumes, vestments
threads decay,
and everyone sees truth...

the powerful…
pimples and smooth skin
perfected muscles and
sculptured curves
grey hairs and sagging flesh
cancer cells in first bloom
accidents waiting to happen,
death waiting for
their fingernails,
their hopes and
dreams,
their hidden, pushed down
concreted over
humaness.

everyone, everything stops.
facades frozen
breaths held,
reality checked,
but hope blooming...

a nervous finger
brushes a button
and elevator music trembles
into existence...

dance the macabre.

power
relationships,
my stuff
my terms
my way.

"My precious,"
speaks God
opening His hand
giving from His heart,
and from heaven appears
on earth
His Son
perfect,
A new life entry;
Immediately
evil fights to kill,
fights to possess,
wants to own.

"My precious,"
says God
as Jesus
stands ready in the river
Spirit empowered.

My precious
smiles the widow
two coins in hand
preyed on by religious
traditions and rules,
church leaders
greedy hungry for more,
the poor widow
tattered by events
yet with a heart full
of grace,
overflowing from
an uncontrollable joy,
she empties herself
giving her last coins;
does she know
watching her
is the Precious One,
Saviour?

"My precious
my first,"
cries God
as heaven shutters
on three crosses
and hell celebrates.
"My precious,"
thunders God
as in the quiet
dawn of light,
a body
powers to life,
a stone grinds aside
and the first gift sacrifice
triumphs
over death.

"My precious,"
Speaking to my inner soul,
it can only be
the promised one
the first born Christ,
the resurrected King.

And so to now...
of God and I.

To give myself
first and best,
more than anything
Give my precious
to God,
give generously
give cheerfully
give heartily
give restoration
give into freedom
gift transformation
and step trusting with
my faithful God,
to sow seeds
beyond my life.
